Overview
Welcome to the Contacts module—Caramel’s base directory for the people and businesses you work with. In this page, you’ll get a quick overview of what Contacts includes, what each page is for, and how to set up groups so the rest of the system (like Orders and Accounting) works more accurately.
Why Contacts matters
The Contacts module is the foundation for the rest of Caramel. Other core modules—such as Orders and Accounting—read and update information from here. That means keeping Contacts clean and structured helps you:
- find customers and vendors faster
- apply more accurate filters in other modules
- get clearer reports
- reduce duplicate or incomplete profiles
Treat Contacts as your “single source of truth” for Customers and Vendors. A well-maintained Contacts module improves reporting and filtering across the whole system.
What you’ll find in this module
Contacts is designed to stay simple. It usually includes these pages:
- Customers
- Vendors
- Customer Groups
- Vendor Groups
If your business uses Caller ID or a VoIP integration, you may also see:
- Call Reports Optional
Customers
Use Customers to manage all customer profiles.
Typical actions in this page:
- add a new customer
- edit customer details
- search and find existing customers
Vendors
Use Vendors to manage all vendor profiles.
Typical actions in this page:
- add a new vendor
- edit vendor details
- search and find existing vendors
Customer Groups & Vendor Groups
Groups help you organize Contacts and make the rest of Caramel smarter—especially in filters, charts, and reports.
You can use groups to separate contacts by:
- region / branch
- pricing level
- priority / VIP
- type of customer or vendor
- any internal segmentation your team uses
For best results, assign a color to each group as part of the setup. Group colors are useful later when viewing charts, summaries, and filtered lists in other modules.
Call Reports (if available)
If your setup includes Caller ID or VoIP, Caramel may add a Call Reports page to Contacts. This page helps you review call history and link calls back to Customers or Vendors.
